Breugel - a Babel of images
Organised by a group of printmakers at the Ratamo Printmaking Centre in Finland, the aim is to recreate Breugel’s famous image of the Babel Tower by assembling small sections reimagined by printmakers around the world.
Each printmaker is allocated a specific area of the picture and has to produce an image to exact size specifications so that the whole thing can be reassembled. Apart from that they can interpret the image as they wish. Thankful that I didn’t get given a section of pure sky, I was lucky enough to get a foreground area including a flagon and foliage.
The final collation is to be exhibited at their gallery in December this year.
